Duke

$8800

Meet Duke a 12-year-old grade gelding standing 14.2 hands. The best way to describe this guy is a total sweetheart who goes with the flow and isn’t easily bothered. Duke was never finished in one specific discipline but has dabbled in a little bit of everything. In the arena, he has a nice handle with smooth transitions through the walk, trot, and canter. He has a solid stop, is light in the mouth, moves off the leg, flexes, and side passes with ease. He’s very easy to get along with as I’ve seen true beginners, kids of all ages, and advanced riders enjoy him equally. Duke has that perfect balance of being responsive but he’s not going anywhere too fast. Duke has played around with barrels and poles (not finished, but would do great at playdays or gymkhanas), worked and pushed cattle, is fine with ropes, and will drag things when asked. On the trail, Duke is steady and sure-footed, quiet, level-headed, and confident whether he’s alone or with a group. He handles traffic, bicycles, dogs, water, and all types of terrain without hesitation, and will cross anything in his path. I’ve personally taken him on sunset trail rides bareback and double with my son, and he never gave me a reason for concern. Duke has always been honest and reliable, even with time off. He’s never offered any naughty or concerning behavior. He loads easily, backs out of the trailer, hauls quietly, ties, bathes, stands great for the farrier, and loves being groomed. He’s sound-minded, easy to have around, and gets along well with others. Duke has no bad vices and is current on his feet, teeth, vaccinations, and deworming. He does have an old, flat scar on his left front pastern that doesn’t affect him in any way.
