Meet Lucy, 10 year old draft qh/paint cross mare standing 14.3 hands. Owned by the same people since she was a yearling. As a three/four year she had a good amount of training put into her then she used sporadically over the years. I was shocked when I saddled her up, lunged her around and she didn’t even throw a head shake knowing it had been a couple months at least since she had anything done with her. Stepped on and rode right off. Lucy is not fancy but has all the basics down as far as a simple neck rein, will move off leg, stops and backs. In my opinion, she is more whoa then go, as her two speeds she enjoys the most are walking and jogging. However, she knows her leads and will canter , just know you may personally get more of a workout than her. The riding she has done over the years consisted more of trail riding as she seems to enjoy it, not reactive or bothered by much. Lucy stands tied, lunges on a line, picks her feet up, saddles quietly and loads. I will say, when Lucy first came it took her a couple days to adjust to a handful of new faces, she was not mean or watchy just didn’t wanna be in your pocket right away. As it comes to marish behavior , she is not bad other then the occasional marish looks but gets along with mares and geldings. Super cute , big boned girl looking for someone that will spend the time with her. She ties, loads, bathes and stands quietly. She is current on teeth, shots and deworming. Right now she is trimmed all the way around, does well but depending on what you’d like to do she may require shoes. She does have a scar on the right side of her neck where she bitten by another horse years ago.
