Here’s a cool looking dude, meet Pete! He’s a 10-year-old draft cross standing 13.3 hands and weighing around 1,100 lbs… yes, a short & thick boy! A client purchased Pete about a year ago. He’s been well behaved, but with some recent life changes and him not being exactly what she was looking for, he’s now ready for his next person. She was told Pete was previously used on a ranch. The family she bought him from were a rodeo type of family. We’re told he’s been around barrels (more for fun/playdays), and has experience tracking, working, and sorting cattle. I’ll go ahead and mention his one quirk. Pete can be a little watchy on the ground nothing major, and he will settle in better over time. But can definitely tell he’s been thump on previously. If you’re looking for a in your pocket or cuddly type, he’s probably not the horse for you. That said, he is not mean or unsafe. Under saddle he is a blast to ride . He’s broke, has a true one-hand neck rein, moves well off leg, is light in the mouth, and has a solid stop. He may need a little help picking up his right lead consistently. Out on the trails, Pete walks out nicely and isn’t out looking for trouble. If something does catch his attention, his reaction is minimal and he comes right back to you. He has been ridden by beginners with his current owner, and previous owners also described him as suitable for riders while under saddle. Pete would be a great fit for someone wanting a fun, broke horse to go do a little bit of everything with. He is current on feet , teeth, shots, and deworming.
