Meet Rio! He is a handsome Warmblood/Quarter Horse cross, a 17-year-old gelding standing 15 hands. Rio is a true been there, done-that type with a genuine demeanor who really enjoys his people. He has been owned by the same family for the past five years and was used for lower-level dressage and lessons for their two children. Prior to that, Rio spent six years as a lesson horse in the same barn. He is comfortable being ridden English or Western. Under English tack, Rio is a nice mover, understands his cues well, and has been a steady partner for his family. He has also done some jumping in the past, primarily smaller fences. Ridden Western, he’s just as enjoyable rides on a loose rein, has smooth transitions, and walks, trots, and canters nicely. He has a good stop, pivots, and side-passes. Rio isn’t limited to arena work and enjoys the trails. He’s not a spooky type and seems happy to get out and about. He is suitable for most levels of riders; however, for a very novice rider, he’s not a “push-button” type and may occasionally test, “Are you sure you want me to do that?” He does not offer any bucking, rearing, or bolting. At this time, Rio does not require any special maintenance or supplements. He’s an easy keeper and has been well cared for. His current family is stepping away from horses and wants nothing more than an excellent home for him. He would make a great step-up horse for a youth rider, and an entire family could enjoy him as well. Rio is current on hoof care, teeth, shots, and deworming.
