Snickers

$8800

Snickers is a gorgeous 3 year old mare currently standing 14.2 hands at the withers and 14.3 at the hip. She has the looks, the mind, and just enough sass and grit to make her a whole lot of fun! Unfortunately, Snickers is being offered as grade. We do know how she’s bred, and I’ve personally worked with multiple offspring from her sire. However, papers are not obtainable, or trust me, that would have already been taken care of!

Snickers is truly a well rounded young mare who has been started right and has a whole lot going for her. She’s sweet, willing,  and genuinely enjoys having a job. She’s got just enough grit to make things fun without being difficult to get along with. In the arena, Snickers has a wonderful handle for her age. She neck reins, moves off leg pressure, is soft in the bridle, and has a tremendous amount of try. She’s one you don’t have to ask multiple times, you ask and will receive. She’s naturally forward-moving without being pushy.  Snickers has been started on barrels and poles, and most recently hauled her to a gymkhana for additional exposure. We even used her for lead line with a little 3-year-old girl! Now, Snickers wasn’t entirely sure why this tiny person was bouncing around above her with two people jogging beside her, but she was willing to try and worked through it. For a mare her age, I think that says a lot about her mindset. She has spent just as much time outside the arena as in the arena. On trails she walks along with a level head and is comfortable riding in the front, middle, or back of the group. There really isn’t much that gets this mare worked up. If something does catch her attention, she’s more curious and willing to figure it out than looking for a reason to leave. Snickers has been around cattle since she was a baby and has experience sorting and working them. I could easily see her continuing down the ranch horse path or becoming a really fun all-around partner. She’s also been ridden English! Is she your typical big-moving English horse? Nope! But she looks pretty darn cute doing it, and once again, she’s shown she’s willing to try something different. She’s been ridden in everything from a halter, side pull to a hackamore or light shank bit. Jump on her bareback, in a saddle or even double, she game for it. One of my favorite things about Snickers is how well she handles being hauled and exposed to new places. We recently took her on a three day trip where she experienced new surroundings, overnight highline tying, and horses she’d never met before. She settled in, handled everything well, and was an absolute pleasure to have along. This mare drinks water wherever you take her! Anyone who hauls horses regularly knows how nice that is, she’s a great traveler. Snickers will also pony another horse or happily be ponied herself. On the ground, she bathes, ties, stands for the farrier, loads, and backs out of the trailer. She’s not a finished horse, and she still has plenty to learn, but she’s got a solid foundation, a willing attitude, and the kind of mind that makes things enjoyable!

I personally think a handy youth or confident rider could take this mare a long way. Whether that’s barrels, poles, ranch work, trails, or simply having a really nice all-around horse, she’s got the foundation to build on. Snickers isn’t just another pretty face, she’s an exceptional young mare with a lot to give. She’s current on feet, teeth, shots, and deworming.
