Tina

$8500

JD Tina Dunit is an 18 yearold AQHA mare standing 15 hands and weighing approximately 1,200 pounds. She’s a thick, stout-built mare with good bone and that old school breeding. Tina is one of those good, honest mares who has been well cared for and hasn’t been passed around. She’s spent her life as a family horse, raised a few babies along the way, and has always been consistent, even after extended periods of time off. Recently, Tina has been getting worked more consistently, although I wouldn’t consider her to be in performance shape by any means. She did just do a couple-day guys’ camping trip where she covered over 20 miles through various types of terrain, camped overnight, and handled all the commotion without making a fuss. In the arena, Tina is broke like one should be! She has plenty of buttons, and she’s not one you have to ask multiple times. She has a true one-hand neck rein, moves off leg pressure, sidepasses, pivots, carries a nice headset, counter-arcs, and is soft in the bridle. Tina has carried plenty of beginners over the years, but I do think it’s important that her rider has a light hand and a quiet leg. She’s responsive to her cues, and while she’s certainly not looking to take off with anyone, she will move forward when asked. Most of Tina’s life has been spent sorting cattle and trail riding, with occasional arena work mixed in. And let me tell you, this mare has one of the BEST little jog! You could sit it all day long. I wrote the majority of this ad while riding her bareback at a jog. 😆 Her canter is decent, although being a bigger-bodied mare who isn’t currently in top condition, it could use some additional conditioning. Out on the trails, Tina is confident and easy to enjoy. She’s not easily bothered by her surroundings and has a nice, comfortable walk. She’s not going to leave everyone else in the dust, but you’re not going to be struggling to keep up either. She just cruises along and does her job. She can be ridden in a variety of bits, although I personally prefer her in a small ported bit. She also rides bareback or double. Tina is patient when mounting. She stands quietly and waits until you’re completely on.  Has great ground manners, ties, bathes, loads and stands for the farrier.  Tina has an older scar on her right front pastern. It’s been there for quite some time, is simply part of her, and has not caused her any issues. She also recently nicked herself on her right hind leg. It’s superficial, but I always like to be transparent so nobody is surprised when they come out to meet her. Tina currently requires no special maintenance, shoeing, or feed. She’s an easy keeper, ties, bathes, loads, and is overall a very straightforward mare to have around. She’s a nice, solid mare who still has plenty to offer whether you’re wanting a stout trail horse, something to occasionally work cattle on, or simply a well-broke mare to enjoy, Tina is definitely worth considering.
